John O'Donoghue - Actor
John O’Donoghue is a veteran actor of some seven years who, amongst other courses, has attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin under the tutelage of Antoinette Duffy. Following this, he spent a year training the Stanislavski Method under the direction of Paul Keeley. Later, under the direction of Mikhail Morkeev of the Moscow Arts Theatre, John excelled and went on to attend various voice training courses with Michael Crawford and Paul Keenan.
John’s performance as King Tereus in the Greek tragedy The Three Birds, directed by Antoinette Duffy, was hailed by the local press as ‘innovative and powerful’, and was quickly followed by his role as Ejlert Lovborg in Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. In September 2003, John appeared as the Heckler in Tim McDonald’s staged version of Tennessee William’s Sweet Bird of Youth and in February of that year played a number of characters in Lonely Hearts, staged in the Civic Theatre in Dublin and directed by Paul Keeley. John’s most recent performance was as Kuligin in the Chekov classic The Three Sisters, which toured several venues and was directed by Rayla Tadjimatova of the Moscow Arts Theatre.
John’s film credits include the portrayal of a detective in Joel Schumacher’s Veronica Guerin and an officer in Benedict Arnold, directed by Mikail Solomon, as well as half a dozen leading roles in many independently made short films.
John O’Donaghue is a member of the renowned Dublin actors' consortium The Attic.
John played Proust's Swann in Love's Delusion.
